Teacher Advisory Committee

The Teacher Advisory Committee is an exciting opportunity that is open to 15 educators yearly in the Channel 38 and Channel 20 viewing areas. The committee helps choose the new ITV programming that will be broadcast on Wisconsin Public Television during the following school year for use in Wisconsin classrooms.

The Teacher Advisory Committee meets once every year, usually in February.

Members of the Teacher Advisory Committee take part in a statewide ITV selection process and have the opportunity to interact with state and local educators.

The committee is divided into three, five-member subcommittees--one each for grade level: K-4, 5-8 and 9-12.

Teacher Advisory Committee members:

  • Tape the new ITV series that are aired during ITV Peview.
  • Solicit comments from colleagues and students about their reactions to the ITV Preview series.
  • Acquaint themselves with ITV series currently offered within their grade.
  • Become familiar with the use of instructional television in their school.

During the one-day meeting, committee members share feedback they received from teachers in their schools; review data gathered from the ITV Preview ballots; and recommend which series to add to, and which ones to drop from the following year's ITV broadcast schedule on Wisconsin Public TV.

Morning refreshments and lunch are provided and participants are reimbursed for their mileage to and from the meeting site.
